OUR STORY

Brian Dear - Vocal & Guitar

Tigger Lyons  - Bass & Vocals

John Barrett - Drums & Vocals

Tigger Lyons was the bassist with Hustler, an early 70s rock band signed to A&M Records. In 1977, after two successful albums and touring with the likes of Queen and Status Quo, he responded to an advert in the Melody Maker and discovered the talents of Vocalist and Songwriter Brian Dear. They subsequently formed ‘The Brain Surgeons’, a punk rock band performing alongside local band The Ruts. Tigger left the band in 79 for a musical adventure in Los Angeles while Brian continued to craft his art, writing, and performing with various line-ups.

46 years later, January 2023, Brian performed at Tigger’s Local Pub and the two performed together like it was yesterday. Tigger invited drummer, John Barrett (ex Steranko who were big in Korea circa 2010) to join the band and “Hey Presto!” The Surgeonaires were born. The guys have a great camaraderie and energy and love playing their original compositions which are deeply rooted in 70s rock and punk.

Influences: Van Morrison, The Who, Cream, Bruce Springsteen, The Stranglers and Wilko Johnson.
