THE STORY
The Surgeonaires are a fantastic live band playing in clubs and pubs across London and the South East. They play kick-ass hard rock with catchy melodies, performed with attitude and a sense of humour. Their entertaining set of original material wins over audiences and every performance is an event to remember.
The Surgeonaires play and record as a three piece and each member is a talented and creative musician in their own right – the three-piece format means they all get the opportunity to demonstrate their individual musical skills. But it is their interaction as a band that provides the magic that captures the imaginations of audiences and encourages participation.
The best way to experience the Surgeonaires is to catch one of their live shows so that you can feel the energy and excitement that they generate. They have a unique stage charisma and want to share the fun with as many people as they can.
They have been raising the roofs of West London pubs and clubs for the past eighteen months. Spread the word “The SURGEONAIRES ARE HERE”
(Trust me, I'm a surgeon)
The Surgeonaires are:
Brian Dear - Vocal & Guitar
Tigger Lyons - Bass & Vocals
John Barrett - Drums & Vocals

Tigger Lyons was the bassist with Hustler, an early 70s rock band signed to A&M Records. They recorded two successful albums and toured with the likes of Queen and Status Quo.

In 1977 Tigger and Brian Dear moved into punk, forming ‘The Brain Surgeons’ with MickieP and Mark Evans. They played live shows across the country until Tigger left the band in 79 for a musical adventure in Los Angeles while Brian continued to craft his art, writing, and performing with various line-ups.

46 years later, in January 2023, Brian performed at Tigger’s local pub and invited Tigger to bring a bass. They performed together like it was only yesterday they had shared a stage.

They were lucky enough to recruit drummer John Barrett. John is the perfect drummer for the Surgeonaires. His professionalism and creative skills have been developed through extensive work with showbands across the country and internationally. John is a key part of the Surgeonaires sound. He keeps the beat, working closely with Tigger’s intricate, driving bass lines - but the way he adds the fills and flourishes gives the Surgeonaires a distinctive sound.
Brian Dear has used his considerable experience of performing across the country to develop his stage persona as the Surgeonaires’ front man, perfecting a cutting guitar style that complements his vocals and leaves room for Tigger and John to perform at their very best.

The Surgeonaires has provided the perfect vehicle for Brian and Tigger to display their songwriting talents.
Together, the Surgeonaires are charismatic, melodic, energetic and tight – and they play with such attitude and good humour they are winning new friends and fans at every gig.

In 2023, Tigger discovered some old tapes of the Brain Surgeons, recordings that had never been released. Together with Brian and MickieP, the original Brain Surgeons guitarist, they decided that they would master and release the songs as a tribute to their late drummer, Mark Evans. These recordings turned into the ‘Delicate Operation’ EP in February 2024 which was promoted by the increasingly popular Surgeonaires who included the tracks in their set.

Shortly afterwards, the Surgeonaires went into the studio to record a completely new set of songs – and released the first three tracks in September 2024 as the ‘Get Out’ EP. This EP included a number that was released as a Hustler single in 1974 and was originally sung by the late Micky Llewellen. The Surgeonaires have reimagined “Get Outa My House” for 2024 and it is now sung by the songwriter, Tigger Lyons. Complemented by the stage favourite “When the Bullets Fly” and the enigmatic “Runaway” the Surgeonaires’ EP is a fantastic addition to anyone’s playlist.
